Michael Small
Michael Small holds a Bachelor of Laws degree and was admitted as a Solicitor in Queensland and New South Wales in 1991. He is one of the few Lawyers in Australia to have a Post Graduate Diploma in family law. Michael is also accredited as a family law specialist by the Law Society of Queensland.
Michael is the past President of the Gold Coast Law Association and the Gold Coast Community Legal Advice Centre.
Michael has extensive experience in the areas of family and business law. Michaels priority is to work with clients to identify their objectives, with a particular focus on structuring property and business transactions with an emphasis on tax efficiency.
Col Myers
Col was admitted to practice in 1981 and has since practiced exclusively as a Property and Business Lawyer in both Queensland and New South Wales. He also holds Specialist Accreditation in Property Law from the New South Wales Law Society.
Col is the Partner in charge of the Property and Commercial Department at Small Myers Hughes. Col has particular expertise in Property Development and Titling issues as well as Body Corporate and Management Rights in both Queensland and New South Wales. Col acts for developer clients throughout both States and is regarded as the pre-eminent lawyer dealing with Management Rights in New South Wales.
In addition, Col is the patron and legal advisor of the Australian Resident Accommodation Managers’ Association (NSW) and has been responsible for the establishment of chapters of the Association in the Tweed Heads, Byron Bay and Port Macquarie areas.
Col regularly delivers lectures to final year Law students at Bond University on property related matters in both Queensland and New South Wales. He has also previously been engaged by Estate Agents Authority of Hong Kong to provide a summary of the New South Wales Property and Titling Laws as part of a worldwide review prior to its introduction of new property legislation.
David Hughes
David was admitted as a Solicitor in 1998 after completing a Bachelor of Laws and Commerce at the University of Queensland. David is currently studying subjects towards a Masters of Taxation through Atax.
Throughout his career David has had extensive experience in commercial transactions, body corporate law, business structuring, taxation and superannuation matters, Wills and Testamentary Trusts.
Together with Michael Small, David heads up the business and estate planning department at Small Myers Hughes. The business and estate planning section has developed a specific niche market in assisting people in a professional capacity in tailor making business structures, which are specific to their line of work.
