SAME SEX RELATIONSHIPS
How does the Law Relate to Same Sex Relationships?
Same sex relationships in Australia are recognised in the same way that de facto relationships are recognised, such that it is important for anyone in a same sex relationship to obtain legal advice as to their rights and entitlements.
A same sex couple’s rights include the right to enter into a same sex relationship agreement and the rights that follow separation, including property division and maintenance. We have many years working with clients who are in, or have been in, same sex relationships and can advise you as to your options – not only as to your rights, but the latest trends in the law – the law as to same sex couples being increasingly volatile and subject to change, whether it be due to the political climate and push for change, or the higher frequency in which children and parenting issues must be considered, during or after a same sex relationship.
As to the latter, our experience and legal help can assist with any decision as to adoption, artificial conception, surrogacy, or related parenting matters
