ESTATE PLANNING

What is Estate Planning?

Estate planning is the process of ensuring that your Estate will be managed and distributed in the manner you prefer following your death or incapacity. Contrary to common expectations, estate planning often requires more than just a Will and Enduring Power of Attorney. Although these documents are important, you should also consider other matters for your estate plan including the future use, benefit and control of your non-personal assets. You may have assets held jointly, in family trusts, in companies, in businesses which are subject to agreements. You may also hold assets or funds via superannuation (either in a public fund or a self-managed superannuation fund) which may not form part of your estate when you die.
